Swissmetal is participating in an interdisciplinary research project on the further development of already-known metal-based materials. The emphasis is on the properties of and research into the structure of these materials. These projects are being implemented with the support of the CCMX association (Competence Center for Materials Science and Technology, Lausanne) which consists of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Lausanne Federal Polytechnic), the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (ETHZ, Federal Technical College, Zurich), the Paul Scherer Institute (PSI), the Eidgenössische Materialprüfungs- und Forschungsanstalt (EMPA, Federal Materials Inspection and Research Institute) and Swiss industry. From this collaborative work Swissmetal’s research and development is expecting to gain ideas and make discoveries regarding future trends and products.

With this initiative Swissmetal is making a major and active contribution to the evolution of materials and metallurgy research in Switzerland. Securing materials for the future for quality-orientated and customer-orientated products is a central pillar of Swissmetal’s company development. The product range already contains some excellent examples of earlier research successes such as for instance the NP6 alloy which meets customers’ high standards in electrical conductivity and strength.
