Udo Nöbel appointed Chief Operations Officer of Swissmetal group

Beginning 1 May 2010 Udo Nöbel will be assuming the position of Chief Operations Officer for Swissmetal group as well as the responsibility for overall production at the three Swissmetal plants located in Dornach, Reconvilier and Lüdenscheid. He is taking over from Volker Suchordt who will be going into much-deserved retirement.

 

With his invaluable knowledge and deep experience of the metal alloy industry, Volker Suchordt will continue to provide the company with his expertise in technical matters. Swissmetal owes him a great deal of gratitude. His most important achievements included industrializing the new extrusion press in Dornach as well as tirelessly promoting cooperation among the three plants and implementing countless operational synergies.

 

Udo Nöbel, German citizen, was born in 1963. He studied math, engineering and industrial engineering at the University of Duisberg-Essen and at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences. He began his career as a development engineer in the automobile parts industry and quickly advanced to production manager and later to plant manager at a leading manufacturer of automobile glass panes. He managed a number of plants in Germany and Italy. In this position he was also responsible for transferring manufactured products between locations as well as ensuring know-how transfer. In his last position he was responsible for a subsidiary company of Alcan located in the Czech Republic and set up a second plant for this company in Slovakia. He will complement Swissmetal’s executive team with his valuable experience in production engineering in the metals industry and provide an important contribution to the continued strategic development of the company. We are pleased to welcome Udo Nöbel to Swissmetal on 1 May.
